Share in the Caring…
Recognizing the desperate need for a new, larger and much more modern facility to house and care for the increasing population of homeless cats and dogs, in 2000 the Riverside Humane Society Pet Adoption Center Board of Directors authorized a two-phase building program to be implemented over a period of several years. Phase I, a 3,200-square-foot building, was completed in June 2001. Through 2007 this building to served as the cattery and provided offices for staff and volunteers.
Phase II, the new Pet Adoption Center, a 17,000 square-foot Spanish mission-style facility on the lot adjacent to the 3,200 square-foot building which is now used as a much needed service and storage facililty. RHSPAC’s new facility provides state-of-the-art temporary living quarters for all the cats and dogs under one roof, in addition to offering an inviting and accommodating environment for visitors, staff and volunteers.
The Pet Adoption Center features:
- 65 air-conditioned indoor/outdoor kennels
- 20 catteries and free-roaming cat rooms
- Socialization and training areas
- Observation and treatment rooms
- Canine grooming area
- Get acquainted rooms
- Education and community resource center
- Gift store
The new building greatly enhances the Riverside Humane Society Pet Adoption Center’s ability to sustain its vision and mission of providing the highest quality in pet adoption programs and services, and support of companion-animal spay/neuter programs.
