There are many things to consider when selecting a cat to adopt. Age, breed, blood line, long hair, short hair, color, and most of all “individual personality,” are the issues most people consider when choosing a cat. Other characteristics such as activity leven, shyness, friendliness, playfulness, submissiveness, and gentleness should be considered as well. Cats can age to 17 or 20 years, so looking into the future is important, too. Will you be retiring? Will you be marring? Will the children be going to school or moving out? Kittens are cute, but often they require more attention, and their true personality may still be developing. Adult cats have developed their personality so there is less of a mystery about their wants, need, and behaviors.
