Meet Dobbie, one of our available & adorable adoptables. This dapper dude is due for some R&R. Since arriving at our Center on January 22nd, sweet Dobbie has undergone a dental cleaning (with extractions) as well as a small surgery for abscess removal, when his microchip caused a skin infection. Yet, even with what he’s been through, there isn’t a day that goes by without Dobbie displaying his darling demeanor and pleasant personality to everyone he meets.

As of Thursday, April 11th, we can add daring and dauntless to Dobbie’s list of descriptive adjectives. For on this day, our pintsized pup is undergoing knee surgery to fix his luxating patella. If you have room in your home and heart for a dynamically dainty dog, Dobbie hopes you’ll consider adopting him - he’d love to be in his new home as he heals and rests. At only six years of age, Dobbie will be dashing through life for many years to come.
AN INTERVIEW WITH DOBBIE
With Dobbie having the title of “long-timer”, meaning he’s been at our Pet Adoption Center for quite a long time (in fact, he is the longest-term resident), we thought we’d ask for his take on some of the goings on at the Center. Please take a moment to enjoy this interview with Dobbie:
MSRPAC: What do you like most about the Pet Adoption Center?
Dobbie: My favorite thing about the PAC is the feeling of love that just exists everywhere here. I know that everyone has my best interest in mind (even when I’m ‘forced’ to do my PT exercises). I just can’t help but know that even with all the other residents here, everyone cares about me – from the volunteers who spend time socializing me, to the animal care techs who feed me, to the enrichment group who has kept me busy during my recovery, to the visitors (aka potential adopters) who have taken the time to get to know me, I feel the love from every one of these people.
MRSPAC: How’s the food?
Dobbie: To be perfectly honest, it’s not amazing, it’s dog kibble, so that in itself is not exciting. I’d probably rate it at about a 7. But, the peanut butter filled kongs and the frozen pupsicles are bomb – definitely 10+!
MSRPAC: Care to share some ‘dish’ on any of your dog or cat roommates?
Dobbie: I don’t wanna be a gossip… Heck, who am I kidding, I’ll totally spill the tea! There’s this gal, Mia, who sometimes barks at passerbys, but I’m here to tell you that she is actually a total sweetheart – she just has some trouble seeing, and wants you to take a moment or two to meet her. Oh, Daisy and Caitlyn (2 larger pups at the Center), they both love to demonstrate that they can ‘sit’ on command. Hmph – showoffs. Feline friends? There are quite a few (Mimi, Tully, Frozen) who are great at being lap-cats, & cuddling (don’t ask me how I know, I just know). And, the real scoop in the Cattery is that Luis and his neighbor, Maggie, are totally vibe-ing on each other. BUT – you didn’t hear that from me.
MSRPAC: What advice would you give a dog or cat who is new to the Center?
Dobbie: For any dog or cat who is a new resident at the Pet Adoption Center, I’d tell them to trust the process. And that your time will come. Maybe you’ll get adopted on your first day, or maybe your stay at the Center will be a bit longer (like myself) - just know that when it’s the right time, the right family or right person will come stop by the Center, ask to meet you, and that will be the start of the next chapter of your story. Being a resident at the Center is just one chapter in your story, and thankfully, that chapter is a good one, filled with kindness, compassion and care.
