Position Title Full Charge Bookkeeper

Job Description Summary

The Bookkeeper reports to the Administrative Manager and is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining the day-to-day accounting functions, accruals, financial statement preparation, and performing general accounting functions, as required.

Main Responsibilities/Functions

• Full cycle Accounts Receivable, including preparation of monthly invoices and maintaining customer and vendor records Accounts Payable including: purchase orders and vendor records maintenance
• Multiple Bank reconciliations for depository accounts
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts; reviewing for input accuracy and prepare monthly reports and journal entries, as needed
• General ledger maintenance
• Prepare bi-monthly payroll
• Administration of quarterly business and payroll taxes
• Prepare monthly financial statements
• Maintain required business documents
• Prepare annual 1099’s
• Prepare the annual budget and oversee audit process
• Maintain financial document retention files
• Oversee vendor setup and maintenance
• Vendor statement reconciliation and discrepancies
• Deposit and cash reports
• Prepare and/or review of all expense reports for accuracy and proper expense disclosure
• Interact with department managers to on AP, payroll and accounting issues
• Perform other related duties as may be requested by the Executive Director

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises Accounting Clerk.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ of full charge bookkeeper experience/ Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
• Proficient computer skills including QuickBooks, Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to analyze data for trends and recommend solutions
• Customer Service Experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions

• Indoors in air-conditioned/heated office, outdoors at center or on-location for various activities
• Equipment Use:
• Includes use of PC, laser printer, copy machine, fax machine and telephone,
• Work Hours:
• Regular work hours are weekdays,
• Regular exposure to animals

Mental, Physical and Communication Demands:

• Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
