COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

What shelter-in-place means for animal shelters.

Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center will be open from 10am – 4pm by appointment only. To schedule an appointment to adopt an animal, please email .

We will continue to provide the following services to our community:

  • The Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center’s Pet Food Assistance Program feeds 100’s of dogs and cats each month in coordination with different partner organizations throughout the community.  Our Pet Food Assistance Program is also available to anyone who is experiencing financial hardship and might need a little help providing food for their beloved pet(s). We coordinate individual pet food packaging and delivery to those in need and in these times that includes pet owners who are struggling with the loss of employment due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Food can be picked up from the Center Thursday – Saturday from 10am – 1pm.
  • Owner relinquishments of puppies and kittens under 8 weeks of age by appointment only.  To schedule an appointment please fill out the form on our website
  • Fostering animals is especially critical right now, since we anticipate fewer people will be coming in to adopt pets amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. Thanks to our incredible volunteers, we do not currently need fosters, but that may change in the coming days. If you would like to help us be prepared for that eventuality, you can sign up here.

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center needs your help to continue our mission to provide care for pets in transition. Here is a list of ways you can help!  Be assured we’re taking necessary health precautions at the Center And, because the Pet Adoption Center is not a government agency, we are only able to keep going with your help.

Here are things you can do today to help us help Center pets:

  • Take care of yourself, and each other. Follow the guidelines presented by the CDC, as well as local government agencydirectives.
  • Foster: Weekly, dozens of orphaned pets receive a life-saving transfer to the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center from overcrowded shelters and rescues all over the Inland Empire. These pets need foster families while they prepare for adoption! Fosters volunteer their time in their own home to care for puppies, kittens, dogs and cats for a period of days to several weeks, and we provide all the supplies they need! Many of us are finding ourselves with lots of time on our hands. Apply to foster orphan pets in need! Can’t foster? Shop our Foster Amazon Wish List!
  • Follow MSRPAC. We will provide important information, but also give you a much-needed respite on our Instagram, Facebook and other channels.
  • Pet Food Assistance Program: Home bound seniors and low-income pet owners in our Pet Food Assistance Program need our support more than ever! Seniors are at heightened risk and cannot/should not go out to buy pet food. Donate to our PFAP and help keep your neighbors healthy.
  • Donate.we still need your help. You, and donors like you, got us through the 1918 Spanish Flu, the Great Depression, two World Wars, and hundreds of local, state, and national disasters and economic downturns over the past 123 years.Because of you, we will continue to be the voice for the voiceless.
  • Our Humane Education department is working hard to roll out take home learning opportunities for critter-loving kids currently out of school. Stay tuned!
